gVim is a GUI mode for the text editing program, Vim, which stands for Vi Improved. gVim is used to add a series of menus and other options to the Vim editor, increasing the potential and the use of this popular text editing program.
Vim was first released in 1991. It is available as a free download (with no further charge to use the software) and can run on a number of different platforms, including Microsoft Windows, Linux, Mac and some of the mobile Operating Systems. There have been a number of versions and fixes released for Vim over the years.
The Vim programs comes complete with a large number of tools and features, including support for multiple windows, a Spell checker and a Code Completer, a Blowfish encrypted and much more. Vim can also work with a number of other programming languages and the software includes support for Perl, Ruby, Lua, Python and more.
